The intoxicating smell of freshly baked sweets looms the streets as soon as you pass by a local bake shop. Welcomed by this familiar smell of warmth and sugary comfort, the bakeries in Vancouver offers treats you won’t want to miss.

Inside you’ll find creature comforts like cinnamon rolls drizzled with buttery icing or soft baked chocolate chip cookies with a light sprinkle of sea salt atop.

Many of these shop are extremely allergy-friendly. In fact, some are 100% vegan, while others have dairy-free, egg-free, sugar-free, [fill in the blank]-free options. Most of the ingredients are clearly marked at these eateries since they get what it’s like navigating food allergies.

So if yourself where can I find the gluten-free bakeries near me, keep on scrolling to find the best bakeries in Vancouver! Half of these bakeries I tried myself, while the other half are on my Vancouver food list for next time.

Similar to the desserts in Barcelona, the best bakeries in Vancouver are found downtown. However, the second best places to find gluten-free treats is in North Vancouver.

You can also find gluten-free goodies tucked away at many other bakeries that aren’t gluten-free. Just peep your head in any shop and take a look at the sweets. In some bakeries it may be clearly labeled, while others you may have to ask.

The Gluten Free Epicurean

  • Vegan and dairy-free options available
  • Address: 633 E 15th Ave Vancouver, BC V5T 3K5, Canada

The Gluten Free Epicurean is unquestionably one of my favorite bakeries in the city. It’s the only gluten-free bakery in Vancouver that I know of that uses aromatic herbs like rosemary in their cookies. Yup, you read that right… rosemary in cookies.

To say it’s divine is an understatement as this bakery pushes the boundary by introducing savory concepts to sweet treats. Besides a rosemary chocolate chip cookie, there’s also pumpkin cookies, cookies loaded with walnuts, and others oozing with marshmallows and chocolate.

But if you’re not a cookie person, don’t worry. On the menu you’ll find brownies, jelly filled donuts, cinnamon rolls, and various types of magical bars.

For the savory enthusiasts, the Gluten Free Epicurean also offers pizza, cheesy pizza bites, quiches, breakfast sandwiches, scones, and more. Keep in mind, not all these items are baked daily, so double check the website to see what they’re baking that day.

Edible Flours

  • Food highlights: cheesecake, cinnamon rolls, cookies, and cupcakes
  • Vegan bakery with gluten-free options
  • Address: 2280 West Broadway, Vancouver BC V6K 2E3, Canada

If you’re looking for a vegan bakery in Vancouver (or vegan restaurant), Edible Flours is tasty choice. This bakery is completely vegan, but offers a wide array of gluten-free treats.

Some of these freshly baked gluten-free items includes creamy pumpkin pie squares, ooey gooey cinnamon rolls, banana chocolatey loafs, and ginger molasses cookies. There’s also peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies if your looking for more classic flavors.

It’s important to note that all of these baked goods aren’t available everyday. Currently only the cinnamon rolls and cupcakes are baked fresh everyday. My advice? Call them ahead of time to see what they’re baking that day.

Vegan Pudding & Co.

  • Food highlights: creme brulee, custard pudding, and soy pudding
  • Vegan and gluten-free bakery
  • Address: 101-422 Richards Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 2Z4, Canada

The Vegan Pudding & Co is a gluten-free and vegan bakery that serves… you guessed it, pudding. The best part about enjoying a cup of creamy pudding is that it takes you back to childhood. Anyone else feel this way? The nostalgia of a care-free life and joy.

Well, that’s exactly what devouring a cup of their pudding tastes like. It’s pure freedom in a cup that’s made from three main organic ingredients. Each cup is made from coconut milk, kabocha squash, and pure maple syrup to give it a rich flavor and luscious texture.

When it comes to flavors this pudding shop offers classic flavors like strawberry or chocolate, but it also offers specialty flavors like roasted black sesame, matcha, and earl grey.

Laughing Daughters

  • Vegan and dairy-free options
  • Address: 426 W Hastings St, Vancouver, BC V6B 1L1, Canada

If you’re meandering through Gastown, one of the best gluten-free bakeries to check out is Laughing Daughters. Just as the name suggest this bakery is filled with laughter and joy with a warm, neighborly atmosphere.

Besides traditional bakery goods (i.e cookies, muffins, etc.), you’ll also discover yummy lunch items on the menu. For hotter days there’s loaded salad and for cooler days there’s zesty tomato soup and cheesy sandwiches. They even have vegan cheese if you’re craving a grilled cheese. I ordered a mushroom cheese sandwich from here and it was the most creamiest sandwich I’ve ever had!

After enjoying some of the delicious treats here, take a stroll around the area as the famous Gastown Steam Clock, which blows actually steam, is minutes away by foot.

Lemonade Gluten-Free Bakery

  • Vegan, dairy-free, egg-free, and nut-free options
  • Address: 3385 Cambie St, Vancouver, BC V5Z 2W6, Canada

What I love about Lemonade Gluten-Free Bakery is that it welcomes all types of food allergies. Everything you see is 100% gluten free and some items are free from other allergens too. That being said, whether you’re looking for a vegan-friendly sweet treat or have an allergy to soy, this bakery has it all.

At this bakery you’ll find different types of fluffy homemade breads like focaccia, challah, and sourdough. In addition there’s velvety chocolate brownies, muffins, buttery croissants, scones, and various types of tarts ranging from zesty fruity flavors to chocolaty perfections.

The menu clearly marks which items are free from the following allergens (i.e. soy, corn, dairy, nut, and egg) and which items are vegan. Feel free to order online from this gluten-free bakery in Vancouver or visit the physical location for a sweet and cozy ambiance.

Mountain Top Wheat & Gluten-Free Bakery

Located in North Vancouver, this bakery dishes out some tasty wheat and gluten-free treats (hence the name). They also offer dairy and egg-free options if you’re vegan or have an allergy. I highly recommend stopping here, especially if you’ve spent the afternoon exploring the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park in North Vancouver.

It’s a great way to warm up after the cold by sipping on a warm beverage and eating some delightful sweets. From chocolate chip muffins, cookies, and pies to pillowy savory breads, there’s several options worth sinking your teeth into.

Two Daughters Bakeshop
