Review note: This product was given in exchange for a real-life review. All opinions are my own and are based on my experience.

One of best things about traveling (besides visiting a breathtaking location) is buying some new clothing for your upcoming trip.

In recent years, I’ve been leaning away from buying fast fashion by supporting more local businesses, buying at thrift stores or also buying from companies who are practicing sustainability. I’m not perfect at it, but I’ve come a long way in being more intentional and sustainable with my clothing purchases. If you’re looking for a sustainable clothing brand to look stylish in while traveling well … keep on reading.

In pursuit of finding more sustainable clothing companies, I received the Kultivar Kargo Women’s Travel Pants from Kühls to help inspire more outdoor adventures in California. I took these pants hiking and exploring some of the beautiful Southern California cities known for their thriving wellness scenes.

Below, I’ll be reviewing the Kühl womens pants, sharing the pros and cons, who the pants are for, who they’re not for, and where to find them.

Who is Kühl?

If you haven’t heard of Kühl, they’re an independent company that started in the Wasatch Mountains. They focus on sourcing responsibly and sustainability, all while creating high quality outdoor clothing gear. You’ll find snow gear, hiking pants, travel pants, flannel jackets, dresses, underwear, bags and much more.

In this post I’ll only be reviewing the Kultivar Kargo Crop Pants, but feel free to browse through their products to see if any other clothing items are speaking to you — Kühls clothes.

The Kühl womens pants

The pants come with fine chocolate (the one above is vegan) and a Kühl sticker!

Sizes: Range from 0 – 16 and the inseam for all pants is 27″

Cost: $99

The Kultivar Kargo Crop Pants come in three different colors: tuscan sun, sage (the color I have) and carbon. Personally, I love the sage color and tuscan sun color. I’m not the biggest fan of carbon (since I’m obsessed with bright colors), but if you’re looking for a more neutral color that will go with any clothing item — this is the color for you.

Here a simple chart to learn more about the main components of the fit, design and fabric of the crop pants.

Colors– Sage
– Tuscan orange
– Carbon
Fit – Mid – high rise
– 10″ front rise (on size 6)
– Bottom opening is 15.5 inches
Design – Internal draw-cord around the waist
– UPF 50+ protection
Fabric – 38% Cotton, 28% Modal, 18% Lyocell,
14.5% Elasterell-P, 1.5% Lycra

Pros of the Kultivar Kargo Crop Pants

  • Super stretch fabric and recovers great after a couple wears with no wash

One of the first things I noticed when trying on these pants was how soft the fabric was. They’re super soft, stretchy, and recover great after a couple of wears with no wash. This is especially important for adventure travelers who don’t have time to wash their pants after every 2 or 3 uses.

  • Great color options

Again, I think the color choices are great! There’s both bright colors and neutral colors so everybody feels like they’re winning when it comes to buying these pants.

  • Mid-high rise

This is a pro in my eyes because high rise or mid-high rise are the best type of pants. I’m not the biggest fan of low rise as it can make it harder to move around, especially when hiking or traveling. The description says the rise on size 6 sits at 10″, and I would agree as it sits about right there on me, falling right under my belly button. It holds you in (not too tight), supports your natural body movement so you can effortless scale the rocks and not worry if your pants will rip or fall.

  • Internal elastic drawstring to tighten the pants if needed

The added internal drawstring is a huge plus! It’s great for tightening pants and adds extra support for holding your pants up. Thus, if you forget your belt when traveling, don’t worry, just tighten that drawstring.

  • Relax fit throughout the leg

As a fitness enthusiast, this is a huge component I look for in travel pants. You want the pants comfortable, not too tight, but also not too loose. Naturally I have thick thighs and sometimes have to size up for them, but these pants fit my thighs just right, allowing extra wiggle room for hiking trips such as Joshua Tree National Park.

  • Crop bottom opening

The crop adds some flair to the pants! It makes them super stylish for both adventuring or for work.

  • Great style and design

I’m obsessed with the style of these Kühl womens pants. They’re true cargo pants equipped with several butt and thigh pockets to stash your gear or items.

Cons of the Kultivar Kargo Crop Pants

  • The crop falls a little short on taller individuals (I’m 5’10 for reference).

While I love the crop look, this is also a con of the pants. The inseam of the travel pant is 27 inches and for tall girls, it can be a tad shorter than what you’d expect out of a crop pant. This also means you can’t roll the pants up as they look extremely awkward. Honestly this was one thing I was looking forward too when receiving these pants, so I was bummed it didn’t work out.

Also, many of their other pants have different inseam sizes, so hopefully one day they can add a 28 or 29 inch inseam. Fingers crossed!

  • You may need to size down

Although I personally didn’t have this issue, they are some reviews that show this product may run a little big. I ordered my normal size and it fit very well, but again, I tend to have bigger thighs. If this isn’t the case for you, you may want to order a size smaller.

Who the Kühl womens pants are great for and not great for?

A photo of the Kühl womens pant

Kühl womens pants can be great for any traveler, adventurer or outdoorsy individual as they’re both stylish and functional. You can use them for more work type environments, leisure travel or for trekking excursions. They’re flexible, have great structure and lots of pockets.

Plus, they’re also super comfortable to wear during road trips or long travel days.

However, if you’re looking for a more business travel pants, I wouldn’t recommend this specific pant for you. I’d opt for a different travel pant like their Kontour Flex Denim Skinny in black, offering you a more professional look. You can also hike in these pants.

Where to find Kühl womens pants?

These Kühl womens pants can be ordered via several online sources such as Kühls and REI. Keep in mind while REI stores do carry Kühl products, not all stores carry this specific pant in person, so online will be your best chance at buying them.
